My Reads

Here is the list of books I have read. I will add more as I read them. Here is also where I will be posting what I thought of some of the books. Please share your thoughts if there are titles you have read as well as share the ones that you can recommend to me. Thanks!

Grand Avenue - by Joy Fielding

I have FINALLY finished this book. I got sidetracked reading another one. Yes, I read more than one book at a time sometimes hehehe. But, back to my review about this book. A good friend of mine recommended this book to me. And it was really good. If you like Jodi Picoult, you will like Joy Fielding too. She writes similar types of stories. I got a total shock out of this book. Her way of writing about the characters is so convincing and I love that. At about 60% of the book, the tempo slows down a bit which I didn't like. But it picks up with a ton of speed and you are left to finish the book as fast as you can! Such a twisted ending; loved it!

The Help - by Kathryn Stockett

I finished this book in three days and it is an AMAZING book. I did not want it to end at all. If you have ever read 'To Kill a Mockingbird" and loved it, this is just as good if not more. I have yet to see the movie but that is also on my list of things to do.

The Kite Runner - by Khaled Hosseini
A Thousand Splendid Suns - by Khaled Hosseini

These two books are jaw dropping. I absolutely LOVE these books. The Kite Runner is by far my favourite from the two. Maybe it is because I read it first; I am really not sure why I love it more. I just do. My best friend recommended it to me and I have to admit he recommended an AMAZING read. If you haven't read it, you should give it a try. It focuses on a lot of life changing experiences about situations and lifestyles within Afghanistan. The other one is fabulous too. Makes you really think about what the meaning of freedom is and how every person perceives freedom differently.

The Shopaholic Series - by Sophie Kinsella
Can You Keep a Secret - by Sophie Kinsella
The Undomestic Goddess - by Sophie Kinsella
Twenties Girl - by Sophie Kinsella
Remember Me - by Sophie Kinsella

Okay. So I love these books as most women would too. They are super easy and hilarious to read. I love them and read them over and over again when I need a break from life and its stresses. It really gets you feeling better and lets you become comfortable with yourself. The Undomestic Goddess has been my favourite one.

The Tenth Circle - by Jodi Picoult
Nineteen Minutes - by Jodi Picoult
House Rules - by Jodi Picoult
My Sister's Keeper - by Jodi Picoult
The Pact - by Jodi Picoult
Salem Falls - by Jodi Picoult
Second Glance - by Jodi Picoult
Songs of the Humpback Whale - by Jodi Picoult

There are too many times in life where we feel that we have it pretty bad. Not if you ever read Jodi Picoult's books. They all focus on very controversial issues. She writes in a way that lets you bond with each character and their situation, and you are left to think about whose side you would be on if it was to happen to you. Salem Falls, Nineteen Minutes, The Pact and My Sister's Keeper are my favourites. (I am not a fan of the movies from these stories however; they are NOTHING close to what the books makes you see, hear, feel and speak).

A Bend in the Road - by Nicholas Sparks
The Rescue - by Nicholas Sparks
Safe Haven - by Nicholas Sparks
The Lucky One - by Nicholas Sparks
The Last Song - by Nicholas Sparks
Dear John - by Nicholas Sparks
The Wedding - by Nicholas Sparks
The Choice - by Nicholas Sparks
The Notebook - by Nicholas Sparks
A Walk to Remember - by Nicholas Sparks

Yes, yes. I am also a sucker for romance stories too. Nicholas Sparks writes in such a way that makes you cry over characters and you cannot help but hope to find people like those characters in your life too.

Tuesdays with Morrie - by Mitch Albom
For One More Day - by Mitch Albom
Five People You Meet in Heaven - by Mitch Albom

This author is fantastic. He touches upon stuff that we think about personally but never really share with others. They are VERY worth the read. It gets you thinking about your life itself and what sort of impact you put on others. Really gets down to the heart so you can change your ways and be kind to others. Respect is key.

Sundays at Tiffanys - by James Patterson

A very cute and sweet romance novel. Loved it!

The Lovely Bones - by Alice Sebold

A very disturbing novel. Beware of detail provided in this because it is scary and disturbing, yet, a wonderfully written script. If you like Jodi Picoult, you will like this too.

Suite Francaise - by Irene Nemerovsky

Story about the Holocaust. A very well-written book.

1984 - by George Orwell

Read this book when I was in high school. LOVED it! One of my favourite reads. I actually think sometimes that we are more or so living the '1984' life.

The Outsiders - by S. Hinton

Oh man. This one I read in Middle School. Have seen the movie too. They both are amazing. I don't personally own this book but I will add it to my personal library because it is a keeper.

To Kill a Mockingbird - by Harper Lee

One of the books that you must read in your lifetime. Jaw-dropping and heart-wrenching.

The Secret Life of Bees - by Sue Kidd

I picked this book up randomly when I used to work at a bookstore. It was a really good decision. Talks a lot about slavery and racism. Another one of my favourites.

Fall On Your Knees - by Anne Marie McDonald
The Innocent Man - John Grisham
PS I Love You - Cecilia Ahern
Amazonia - by James Rollins
The Memory Keeper's Daughter - by Kim Edwards
Something Borrowed - by Emily Giffin
Twilight Series - by Stephanie Meyer
